Vidic Ready for City Challenge

Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic is expecting great battles with rivals Manchester City in the Premier League next season.

City have qualified for the European Champions League and have signed the likes of Gael Clichy from Arsenal and defender Stefan Savic in order to strengthen their squad for the upcoming campaign, while Sergio Aguero is in line to replace skipper Carlos Tevez.
The big spending happening across town, Vidic says, is set to take the Manchester derby to new heights.
"It is clear Manchester City have the money and they will sign new players," he said.
"They will definitely be in position to fight for the league. But we have to focus on ourselves. We have to think about what happens at our door, not our neighbours', and I believe we have enough good players and a good team to challenge for the trophy."
United, meanwhile, have brought in goalkeeper David de Gea, Phil Jones and England winger Ashley Young. Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder has been linked with a move to Old Trafford as the club looks to replace the retired Paul Scholes, however, Vidic believes the squad is already strong enough to claim a 20th league title.
"We still have good players," he said. "We have important players who can play in that role. If you look at what we did over the last few years and how many trophies we have won, a lot of players have played in that position.
"It is the gaffer's judgment about who we need and what we need. As players, we just need to be healthy and work hard.''
The Serbian defender is also looking forward to taking on Barcelona in a pre-season clash on July 30 in a rematch of last season's Champions League final.
"I don't know why you are always asking Manchester United players how we are going to bridge that gap," he said. "Like I say again, this team is successful. We are doing some good things.
"We don't have any problem with the Barcelona players. We respect them but we are not scared to play against them. It is hard when you get to the final and lose, especially because it was the last game. It is always in your mind.
"Barcelona performed much better than us. We could and should do better. But this is a new season. We have to forget what happened, take some points from that game and improve.''
