Manchester United have been put off making an official bid for Inter Milan's Wesley Sneijder because of his wage demands.On Tuesday, Inter director Marco Branca stated that Sneijder "is not for sale", amid rumours that United and Chelsea are keen to bring him to the Premier League for around £35 million.
However, it was claimed the Red Devils upped the ante in their pursuit of the Netherlands international by sending a delegation, led by chief executive David Gill, to Milan. In fact, Gill flew to Zurich for a European Club Association meeting and a source told ESPNsoccernet that the club's interest in the player has cooled.
''David Gill has not rushed out to Milan to sign the player, as it has been suggested - he went to Zurich,'' the source said. ''I don't think Manchester United will go through with any deal for Sneijder, when you examine the finances involved, in particular the player's wages."
Sneijder, 27, joined Inter from Real Madrid in 2009 and helped the club win a memorable Serie A, Coppa Italia and Champions League treble in 2010 and commands a weekly wage of £190,000-a-week that United seem unprepared to match.
