VdS Tips De Gea to Handle Pressure

Edwin van der Sar is convinced his successor at Manchester United, David de Gea, has all the attributes to forge a long career at Old Trafford.

Despite the best efforts of United players, fans and manager - Van der Sar opted to retire on a high having helped the club to league title No. 19.
Manager Sir Alex Ferguson knew the Dutchman was set to quit so embarked on a thorough scouting mission that resulted in the club opting for De Gea.
There is huge pressure on the 20-year-old but Van der Sar expects the former Atletico Madrid keeper to rise to the challenge.
"United scouted all over Europe and found a couple of targets and they chose De Gea," Van der Sar said. "Hopefully he's going to have a great career at Manchester United. He's very talented.
"He's already won a trophy with Atletico Madrid and the Spain Under-21 team so the prospect of him doing well is there.
"Everybody has to be his own person but I've met him. I've spoken to him and it looks to me as though he can handle the pressure."
