PSG Warned Off Berbatov

Big-spending Paris Saint Germain have been told by Manchester United that Dimitar Berbatov is not for sale after making an enquiry about the Bulgarian striker.

PSG's new owners, Qatar Investment Authority, splashed out a club record €42 million for Palermo playmaker Javier Pastore earlier this month and are looking to add further marquee signings as they rebuild the squad.
Berbatov's future at Old Trafford has been the subject of speculation as he appears to have slipped behind Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck as the favoured partner for Wayne Rooney, but manager Sir Alex Ferguson has rebuffed an approach for the 30-year-old.
PSG sporting director Leonardo told France Football: "I had Ferguson on the phone but he told me that he was counting on Berbatov and that he was not for sale."
It had been suggested United would be prepared to let Berbatov move on as he is the only player at Old Trafford with less than one year left on his current deal, other than 37-year-old Ryan Giggs.
However, The Telegraph report that United could trigger a further one-year contract option to prevent the £30.75 million club record signing leaving on a free transfer next summer.
