Ferguson Rejects Toon bid for Morrison

Manchester United have turned down a bid from Newcastle United for Ravel Morrison, Sir Alex Ferguson said on Friday.

Morrison, 18, is yet to play in the Premier League - and has made just three senior appearances - but has been tipped for a bright future in the game after impressing in the successful FA Youth Cup campaign last season.

Newcastle are reported to have bid £500,000 for his services, but the Red Devils have held firm and are not willing to sell the young winger.

Speaking at his press conference before Saturday's clash with Bolton, Ferguson said: "His agent has been working hard to get him another club. We've offered him terms which he has refused. We've rejected an offer from Newcastle. We'll see how that progresses. His demands are unrealistic as far as we're concerned."

Morrison is out of contract at the end of the season and he has had problems off the field in his brief professional career, most recently when he was fined for throwing a girlfriend's mobile phone out of a window and he has also pleaded guilty to two charges of witness intimidation.

However, United have worked tirelessly to keep the Manchester-born youngster on the right tracks, recognising the ability that has led to a widespread claim Morrison is the best young player to emerge from United's youth ranks since Paul Scholes.
