Evra: I Was Over-Confident in Rome

Patrice Evra says he will not make the same mistake he made two years ago and under-estimate Barcelona in the Champions League final. Evra believes he was too confident going into the 2009 final in Rome, with Barcelona winning 2-0 thanks to goals from Lionel Messi and Samuel Eto'o. But the France international will be better prepared for his next meeting with the Spanish giants.

"Rome was a bad feeling,'' Evra explained. "I am honest. I was confident in Italy. Maybe too confident. I thought we were going to win. "Everyone says Barcelona are the best team in the world now. I respect that. But two years ago everyone said we were going to beat Barcelona easily in Rome. Maybe the opposite will happen this time.'' United have hardly been showered with praise this season despite winning a 12th Premier League title, which is not something Evra has lost any sleep over. "It doesn't matter about us not getting respect,'' he said.

"We have had a lot of criticism this year. Everyone had said it was the end of the Manchester United empire. But we still won the league. "Now they are saying we didn't play well. But we won the title by nine points. That's good. If we ever start to play well we are going to win it by 20.''
