Fergie Gagged Over England Speculation

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed the Premier League has told him to stop talking to the press about the vacant England manager's job.

As one of the most respected voices in English football, Ferguson's opinion on who should replace Fabio Capello has been regularly sought by journalists since his resignation last month.

The Scot has repeatedly offered his backing to Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp, and suggested prior to last week's meeting between Spurs and United that it could be the last time he faced his friend.

Ahead of United's clash with Roy Hodgson's West Brom this weekend, Ferguson was asked for his view on the Englishman's credentials for the Three Lions job, but indicated that he was not allowed to pass comment.

"The Premier League has written to me asking me not to talk about the England manager's job,'' Ferguson said. "I don't know why.''
